It was full of love and felt so caring. I thought it was great to
See so many performers in one place, such variety and the opportunity for so many seniors to ‘shine’.
My husband said “I enjoyed it more than I expected to.” I liked exposing the girls to such an event.
Smart move to put the kids down on the stage floor.

Jade has commented several times about the blind pianist. We bought her CD and it is lovely.

You did a fabulous job.

Beverly Bitterman

(813) 964-1260 Ph; 787-3493 Cell
www.beverlybitterman.com

Opening Minds and Opportunities!

Providing Organizational Coaching to develop Leaders and Teams through:

Executive Coaching
Team Building
Leadership Development
Assessments

It was really nice and talented group of people.
I appreciate you organizing such an event, I am sure it took a lot of work and time.
I am surprised that the artists did not arrive. For me it was great to put aside all my hectic activities and enjoy an evening like that.
What is the name of the 11 years old girl who sang? She was to me one of the highlight performers,
She has an amazing voice.

Also thanks very much to Charlene for organizing this great art show.
Best,
Ofra

Susan,
I didn’t mention to you that I am a member of an artists association called “Artists in action International”.
We organize activities in Clearwater, such as art events and music events.
You can check our website: www.artistsinactionint
I will email you info on any events.

Thank Ofra, we will have to keep them on the list for next year!
Of course, I love music of all types, but when I hear my girls singing, it just melts my heart. It is my honor to share the sweet sound of music with you, through the Second Annual Universal Music Day!

Cedar Valley Publishing - http://cedarvalleypublishing.com/blog

Dear Musicians for the 2nd Annual Universal Music Day,

As most of you know, I have high ideals and grandiose ideas
[mostly magnificent and splendid rather than flaunting, showy or pompous].
You know that I want to be a part of changing the culture of how Music, Musicians
and Music Teachers are viewed. Rather than the Arts and Music being viewed as
the fluff after all the "important things" are paid for, I want people to
know that Art and Music are our Essence and therefore Essential to our well-being.
This will take all of us thinking in a different way and experimenting with
different ways of being with others. I believe we have something to offer a hurting world!

Musicians and Music Teachers have a very special role in our
communities, for I believe that Music can help keep people
grounded and connect our hearts and minds to each
other. MUSIC is like the steel pilings of skyscrapers and
cathedrals around which the concrete is poured and structure is erected.

Maya Angelou says that, "Music [singing] puts starch in our spines".
Susan says, it also stimulates our courage, imposes discipline and helps
us claim our voice to do what we need to do.

Our event is NOT ABOUT PERFORMANCE but about touching hearts and
changing some of the culture, as well as doing what fine Musicians usually do:
fill our own souls and from that full place make a contribution with
the intention of lifting our spirits and the spirits of our fellow
musicians and our community for the evening. It is about enriching
and inspiring people so we can build strong communities.

Therefore as you prepare for Saturday evening, please keep these ideals in mind.
Plan to be there from 4 to 10. I know that is a lot to ask for no pay except a modest
Chinese dinner. We are a part of building a new future based on a "search for truth and
commitment to justice and treating all with respect."

A few people are traveling quite a distance to join us and have other noble commitments
on that same day so a few will arrive late and one must leave very early. I truly hope that
they are the exception and that we will all get to know each other
and give ourselves the gift of a leisurely dinner, mingling and building comfort with
each other so that if, in the "Listeners Choice" after intermission, people want to hear you
interact musically, you will feel comfortable to do that.

Please come with something special in mind that YOU would like to GET from the evening.
I believe things usually work best with a mutual giving and receiving. Win/Win/Win/Win
the Musician, the active listeners, the collective whole which can ripple through our communities!

Warmly, Susan

PS: I apologize for having all this come your way in the last few days. However, I think you will be pleased and benefit from the coordination of our evening with the Art Show, the Service that was held on Sept. 28 and the other distractions that I have indulged in!

I would respond gladly to Universal Music Day but I have a ticket to go to Mexico for the entire
month of Oct. I am going to learn Spanish and do some work on projects. However, I do recall when I was in junior high and a typical junior high person, the music teacher played the Peer (sp?) Gynt suite for us and I was hooked on "classical" music forever. Yes, the dimension of music makes a life fuller.
Found today from a writing on 22 December 2005

Goosebumps rose over my body like surges of playful, blinking Christmas lights as 20 Choral members sang Handle's Messiah in the resonate Octagon on 10 December 2005. Equally electrifying surges of gratitude filled my heart, body, and soul for the amazing humans who gave me back my voice and my music. Not a day goes by without my awareness and gratitude for their sharing the Gift of Music with me in such a way that I could grab hold of it and make music my own. This gift keeps on giving and like a fine wine ripens and deepens with years.

My voice joined with the other Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater Choral members; who joined with countless Chorals and Choruses around the country and indeed the world; and we all joined with the countless Chorals and Choruses for hundreds of years, who have sung that masterpiece to the delight of millions and perhaps billions of humans every where. The Quantum Physicists would have us believe all of those sounds are still encircling the globe. But for me just joining with so many people to bring beauty, joy and love to so many enthusiastic listeners thrilled me in ways that I never would have thought possible back in April 1989. As I write this I am filled with a surge of hope that indeed we can create world peace and the knowledge that music paves the way one tiny note at a time.

In April 1989, at the age of 45 and extraordinary woman Susan Osborn convinced me through her beautiful teaching method that indeed I was not tone-deaf. I went home and joined our Summer Choir in Bethesda, Maryland.

An unfortunate incident in June led me to a most incredible August vacation/sound healing two week long music experience. That experience in an equally powerful way to the June collision, changed my life but this time in a positive way. Wasn't it the Sound of Music 40 years ago that reminded us that whenever God closes a door, She opens a window? Well Susan Osborn and I opened the window in April and David Darling and I pulled me through that window to a life long adventure learning of the Power of Music.

A week later n August 1989, Kay Gardner and Jonathan Goldman opened my heart to allow those experiences to transcend and transform the negativity that the June incident both highlighted and brought into my life. My life has never been the same since. Thank you Susan Osborn for inviting me back to my voice to your Johns Hopkin's workshop and giving me the encouragement to join our Summer choir. Thank you thank you David Darling for your encouragement to reclaim my music and thank you Kay Gardner and Jonathan Goldman for helping me take those gifts to heart!

Please consider, Susan Patricia Golden, when you need an accomplished professional speaker or workshop leader who can bring out the best in your people through the subtle power of music appreciation. See the first published book in a series of 12 books to encourage people to LOVE their own Music – and through that process, find their inherent talent in whatever field. In April 2007, she founded Universal Music Day to Create ONE DAY IN THE YEAR that brings the World together to make MUSIC from our HEARTS and create a world of Peace, Love, Justice and Joy. And then to make every day a MUSIC DAY!
Visit her websites www.SusanPatriciaGolden.net www.UniversalMusicDay.org and www.FamilyMusicNetwork.net to learn more about ABZ's of Musical Instruments Book 1 and to listen to the sounds of the instruments. Some of the programs available for onsite and corporate bookings include:
•	Unlock the keys to better teamwork – through music
•	Golden notes – what music can teach us about better health and well being
•	Listen for your own music - the Golden way to living the life of your dreams
Contact Ms. Golden by email or phone at : SPG@UniversalMusicDay.org or 727 804 4908

Saturday 07 June 2008, my friend Kathy Luethje’s mother Katherine celebrated her 90th birthday with about
60 family and friends. By the end of the evening we were all family.

What made this celebration special besides the years celebrated, the delicious food, drinks and beautiful cake was the Lawrence Welk Entertainment Hour. What made the entertainment hour so special was that Katherine’s group of octogenarians started the program with several tunes, hymns and songs some of which were older than they were. To see this fabulous group of shall we say seniors, singing the golden oldies with smiles from ear to ear demonstrated the Power of Music to keep us young, active and vital! So “thank you ladies and gentlemen!"

In addition, the Master of Ceremonies Steve announced Aunt Susie and her bundt
--And now its time for something completely different.... Originally made of ceramic or heavy cast iron and used in Germany and Austria to make coffee cake or bundkuchen, and then modified in the 195's to the folded aluminum style we have today, the bundt cake pan has been sold to over 50 million people. Please join me now in welcoming Aunt Susie and her bundt pan to our program this evening.

You guys don’t know how to dream small, do you! Kudos on the site and everything you’re doing! I think the idea for a Universal Music Day is a stellar one. I’ve been a musician of sorts for many years and I recognize the power music has to unite people. Music is a powerful and constant force in everyone’s lives, even those that claim not to be musically inclined.

I play the drums and other percussion instruments, and I’ve always been interested in how music, its rhythmic elements in particular, have the ability to instantly alter our mood, our perceptions, and our general state of wel-being. I’m not a particularly spiritual person, but I do think music, among other artistic expressions, has the ability to lift human consciousness to a level beyond it’s normal resting state, and bring people into a state of harmony they might not otherwise achieve. It’s an expression that lies beyond sight, the sense we most rely on for day-to-day survival. Therefore it might stimulate centers of the brain we use less frequently. Whether there’s any truth to that is anybody’s guess, but I think it’s poetic, and at least frames music in a different, more potent light.

We have a day to honor the earth in it’s entirety, as well as a day set aside to simply honor trees. A day to honor something as ubiquitous and compelling as music is long overdue. Keep up the good work!
